Mysticism in Theatre and in Life

We revisited this post from 2017 the day after the 2020 elections and found it to be every bit as relevant now, as this quote from the linked article suggests:

“As we head into a more difficult and divisive period in American political and social history, a reinvigoration of these ideas represents a much-needed remedy. The energy, ideas, and impetuses provided by mysticism can inspire theatre artists and inform theatrical productions in specific ways, offering a timeless healing energy to the social illness that has burst like an abscess into American culture.”

The more turmoil and stress affect our lives, the more society teems with the corporal and the commercial, the more we might look to mysticism as a means of reawakening our spirituality. Here are some thoughts about mysticism in the arts and in our lives.
